This is an an action rhyme and singing game in Fante.
One person is chosen to be Esi (name of child). The rest of the children make a circle around 'Esi' and sing while 'Esi' mimes the actions of the rhyme. Children clap to the tune as they sing along.
Translation of rhyme:
Little Esi is squatting in the sunshine,
She is always crying
Esi, stand up, stand up, stand up
Esi, shake out your clothes
Esi, turn around, turn around turn around
Esi, go and choose your darling
'Esi' chooses another child from the group to replace her in the middle of the circle.
The song starts again.
